I know this post is a few days later than the Thursday posting rhythm but I wanted to post today to celebrate 100 days alcohol free!!
As I sit relaxed after a hot bubble bath, eating my butternut squash and chilli soup, drinking my Horlicks on Saturday evening with the lights dimmed into an orange hue and the gorgeous tones of Ed Sheeran’s new album: Autumn Variations, I write to you from a place of contentment.
If you’re a regular to reading my musings each week, I think it’s safe to say that recently it hasn’t been plain sailing at all. My best friends can vouch for the emotional voice notes they’ve received over this last little while, the snot audible between the tears and gasps for air to calm down. I’m astounded that through all of it, I’ve managed to avoid drinking.
Will I continue not to drink? For now, yes. I’ve not made a complete decision on that yet but I don’t plan on drinking alcohol for the foreseeable future.
And so, on this day, my 100th day alcohol free (!!!), I come bringing a list of random things that I’ve been thinking about over the last few days:
The substantially large spider that I saw crawling under my bed a few weeks ago hasn’t materialised again… I think I may have eaten him in my sleep.
The genuine love that I have for Harry Styles as a creative person and how much I enjoy evangelising about him.
So if I can hear next door in their bathroom, does that mean that they’ve been able to hear my very loud, very terrible singing that is conjured up from my lungs on an everyday basis? Have I started a noise war by accident?
How happy I am to have finally narrowed down this month’s writing project and let go of some of the “fluffier” projects I was thinking about.
What’s in the sea? Like the deep dark depths of the sea? And what would it take for them to decide that they wanted to come above the surface and pay us a visit?!
I really value the wisdom of older people in my life.
I had no idea that Glynis Johns was still alive until someone on Substack wished her a happy 100th birthday (Mrs Banks in Mary Poppins)
How much I can’t wait for the new series of Big Brother to start! (I’ve got a lot to thank that show for in my career and I’m finishing this post as I’m watching it and it’s making me very happy)
I’m feeling like having a wardrobe change… Pinterest here I come
I’d like another tattoo.
Should I get my nose pierced?
